A LOVE BUILT ON CARE, CONNECTION, AND THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MAKE TWO PEOPLE FEEL AT HOME WITH EACH OTHER.
Some love stories are not defined by one grand moment. They are found in the way two people care for each other, in the comfort of being together, and in the quiet understanding that makes a relationship feel like its own little world. That kind of connection is not always easy to put into words, but sometimes, a photograph can hold a little piece of it.
That is what makes photographing couples so meaningful to me. As a photographer, I get to create images that become part of a couple’s story—photographs they can return to long after the session itself has passed. And when Lindsay and Todd came to Paletta Park in Burlington for their engagement session, our goal was to bring their vision to life while creating an experience that felt just as special as the photographs they would take home.
Lindsay had shared a mood board before the session, giving us a sense of the elegant, romantic style she envisioned. From there, we began shaping the experience around that vision, with Paletta Mansion and its beautiful surroundings providing the setting.

A VISSION FINDS ITS PLACE AT PALEETA MANSION
With Lindsay's inspiration guiding the direction of the session, Paletta Mansion felt like a natural place to begin. Its historic stonework, surrounding greenery, and nearby Lake Ontario waterfront offered a variety of settings while maintaining the timeless atmosphere they wanted.
As we worked within the location, each part of the surroundings brought something different to the photographs. The stone architecture added character, the greenery softened the setting, and the warm autumn light gave the portraits an inviting atmosphere. Lindsay's red rose bouquet introduced a beautiful touch of colour, complementing the setting without distracting from the people at its centre.
Yet a location can only do so much on its own. What makes an engagement photograph meaningful is the way all those elements come together around the couple. The setting provides the atmosphere, the styling helps express their vision, and the photographs bring everything into one place.
For Lindsay and Todd, that meant creating portraits that felt polished without becoming impersonal. Some images were more composed, while others showed them standing together or walking hand in hand. The variety allowed the gallery to feel complete while keeping a consistent romantic style.

MAKING THE EXPERIENNCE THEIR OWN
Every photograph begins with a moment, but bringing it to life takes trust, thoughtful direction, and an understanding of what matters to the couple.
With Lindsay and Todd, the goal was to bring their romantic vision into focus while keeping their connection at the heart of the session. From elegant portraits framed by Paletta Mansion’s stonework to more relaxed images of them walking hand in hand, each photograph offered a different glimpse of their time together.
For me, the beauty lies in bringing these moments together into a collection that feels natural and cohesive. The setting creates the atmosphere, the photography shapes the frame, but the couple gives each image its meaning.
And when Lindsay and Todd later shared how much they had enjoyed the experience, it was a reminder that the photographs are only part of the story. The memories made along the way matter, too.

MORE THAN THE PHOTOGRAPHS FROM ONE DAY
An engagement gallery captures a particular chapter in a relationship. The location, the light, and the styling help bring the images together, but over time, the photographs can come to mean something different. They can remind a couple of who they were at that point in their lives and of the experience they shared while creating them.
For Lindsay and Todd, their Paletta Mansion engagement photos bring together the vision they had imagined and the portraits created during their session. The gallery offers a range of images that complement one another, allowing them to revisit different aspects of the experience.
Their photographs are presented in two collections.
THE SIHNATURE COLLECTION
A curated selection of favourites, carefully edited and professionally retouched. It brings the standout portraits together in a polished collection.
THE COMPLETE LOVE STORY
The remaining selected photographs, professionally colour-corrected to complement the gallery. It offers a broader selection of images from the session.
The collections offer different ways to enjoy the photographs, but they belong to the same story. One gathers the highlights together, while the other allows more of the session to be revisited.
For me, the value of a gallery isn't simply how many photographs it contains. It is how those images work together and what they may come to mean to the people in them. The photographs that stand out today may sit alongside others that become especially meaningful years later.
That possibility is one of the reasons I love documenting couples. We create the images in the present, but we cannot know every memory they will hold in the future.

A SETTING FOR YOUR OWN STORY
Paletta Mansion offers a distinctive backdrop for couples drawn to timeless architecture, lush surroundings, and the quiet beauty of the waterfront. Whether you arrive with a carefully curated mood board or simply a feeling you want your photographs to capture, the process begins with understanding your personal style.
From there, thoughtful planning and gentle guidance help bring your ideas together, allowing the experience to feel effortless rather than overly staged. Before your session, be sure to confirm photography permissions and access arrangements with the City of Burlington or the relevant venue contact.
Ultimately, the most beautiful images are not those that imitate someone else’s vision, but those that feel authentically yours. Lindsay and Todd’s session was shaped by that very intention—creating something elegant and timeless while keeping their connection at its heart.

LINDSAY & TODD, A CHAPTER WORTH REMEMBERING
Lindsay and Todd's session brought together a thoughtful vision, the character of Paletta Mansion, and an experience they were happy to look back on. The photographs reflect the elegant atmosphere they wanted, but their meaning goes beyond the setting or the style.
I am grateful that they trusted me to document this part of their journey. Being invited to photograph a couple is a responsibility I value, because the images we create become part of their personal history. Knowing that Lindsay and Todd came away with an experience they will cherish is a meaningful part of being their photographer.
I hope that, when they return to these photographs in the years ahead, they are reminded not only of Paletta and the day we spent creating their gallery, but also of the connection they wanted to celebrate when they first imagined the session.
That is what I hope to offer every couple who steps in front of my camera: photographs created with care, an experience that feels personal, and a collection that remains meaningful long after the session is over.
